Hike to Baring Lake

Joseph and Dad took a hike outside of Index, Washington that we had done the very first summer we were in Seattle, 2010 - a 4.4 mile round-trip hike to a lake surrounded by sharp mountains. Not too much of an elevation gain, the hardest part was getting over, under, or around the many trees that had fallen across the trail.

Bike Ride Back-And-Forth Across Lake Washington

Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, Joseph, Henry and Dad biked from home across the I-90 bridge, up along Lake Washington Blvd in Seattle through the Arboretum and then back to Bellevue across the 520 bridge, down to Factoria Mall where Mom picked us up.

A little more than 23 miles and a two-hour ride.

Hike to Little Mashel Falls

The day before Mothers' Day, Washington State started tentative steps to start re-opening, with some outdoors areas opening. Most were still closed, but we drove down to Eatonville, in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, to do a nice 5-mile hike to a set of waterfalls.

The trail was fairly crowded, as it was a beautiful day - sunny and temperatures in the 80s.

To get to the end of the hike you had to navigate across a log across the creek.
Right after taking this video of Jack successfully getting
across, I fell in on my attempt!

Joseph Graduates College!

A Graduation Day unlike any other!

Joseph, home from college for the past five weeks for Covid, watched several videos from Ann Arbor and had a leisurely rainy Saturday afternoon in Seattle.

We did get Olive Garden takeout for dinner, and a cake afterwards, in a modestly decorated Dining Room. Then we all played Carcassone and allowed Joseph to win. Mom and Dad had allowed Joseph to win at Scrabble earlier in the day.

Hail to the Victors!
