Fathers' Day 2017

Jack had another doubleheader on Fathers' Day, this one up in Burlington, against the Burlington Sox. Henry came up as well and I decided to split Fathers' Day into time with Henry and time with Jack.

Jack wasn't starting Game 1, and since Henry, Mary Jo, and I had brought our bikes up, we went off to ride on a beautiful trail right along the Puget Sound. The weather was a bit dreary, but the ride was about 2 miles each direction right along the water. Henry also got the chance to discover a geocache on the ride as well!

Jack was brought in as a relief pitcher in the sixth inning of Game 1. The bases were loaded with two outs, with Lakeside already down 4-1. While Dad, Mom, and Henry followed online from the car, he struck out the batter on three pitches. Lakeside came back with 6 runs the following inning and won the game 6-4! Jack, as the pitcher of record when the winning run scored, got the win.

Jack then was the starting pitcher in Game 2. Lakeside got their bats going in this game, and jumped out to a big lead on their way to a 16-5 victory. Jack pitched the full 5 innings, much of it through the rain, stopping to clear the mud from his cleats on the mound a few times.

So Lakeside swept the doubleheader, with Jack getting credit for the victory in both games!

Henry Builds a Car from a Mousetrap

For his science class, Henry built a car out of a mousetrap (chassis/propulsion), four CDs (wheels), two pen tubes (axles), string and balloons (adhesives to hold wheels to axel).

After a fair bit of trial and error, as well as persistence, Henry was able to get his car to speed off!

Lakeside Wins Walla Walla Tournament

Lakeside Recovery 15U won their first tournament this year in Walla Walla, defeating the home Walla Walla team in the finals. Lakeside swept the five games they played over the weekend, including an 8-3 victory pitched by Jack. Here's Jack pitching in that game:

New Bike For Henry

Henry got a new bike for his 12th birthday. Or, at least the promise of a new bike. We never got around to actually purchasing it. His birthday was last August, but with local sporting good stores going out of business, we weren't able to actually go purchase one until last weekend.

Here's Henry on his new bike after his first ride. Which, he went along the I-90 trail with Dad and went geocaching. He found 3 geocaches, bringing his total to an even 100!

Friday Night Lights: Lakeside 14, Mount Vernon 2

On June 2, Jack pitched the second game of a double header against Mount Vernon. He pitched a complete game, throwing 6 innings and giving up just 2 runs on 70 pitches. He walked just one batter and struck out four.

The stadium had a nice set of seats right behind home plate, allowing for some great photos and videos. Here's the full third inning plus the final outs of the game:
