Around the World in 14 Days

On Friday, March 1, John left Seattle on a business trip, heading east toward Europe. Two weeks later – after nine flights (all headed east), 20,015 miles, and six countries, John returned to Seattle. Circumnavigating the globe over the course of two exhausting weeks, John met with Amazon teams in Luxembourg, Bangalore, and Shanghai.

Here’s the day-by-day itinerary:
Friday March 1 – leave Seattle @ 1pm
Saturday March 2 – land in Luxembourg @ 10:30am. I leave my luggage at my hotel, since I can’t check in yet. I take the train to Trier, Germany, a beautiful historic town close to the Lux/German border
Sunday March 3 – take the train to Belgium to see the Battle of the Bulge museum in Bastogne.
Monday March 4 – spend the day in the Amazon Luxembourg office
Tuesday March 5 – spend the day in the Amazon Luxembourg office
Wednesday March 6 – spend the day in the Amazon Luxembourg office
Thursday March 7 – spend the day in the Amazon Luxembourg office, take an overnight flight to Dubai via Munich
Friday March 8 – spend the day in Dubai and attend an Amazon meeting via conference call late at night
Saturday March 9 – spend the morning in Dubai, fly to Bangalore on a direct flight in the afternoon.
Sunday March 10 – sightseeing in Bangalore
Monday March 11 – spend the day with the Amazon team in Bangalore
Tuesday March 12 – spend the day with the Amazon team in Bangalore, take three flights, overnight, to go from Bangalore to Delhi to Hong Kong to Shanghai
Wednesday March 13 – Land in Shanghai around noon, spend afternoon in Amazon office
Thursday March 14 – Visit suppliers in Shanghai area
Friday March 15 – fly home! Leave Shanghai at 12:50pm, arrive in Seattle the same day at 9am!

Here are some of the top photos from John's trip around the world:

Typical disgusting airline food. Breakfast on the way to Shanghai.
Not positive, but I think that's gravy on the scrambled eggs. I didn't try it to find out.

Boarding final flights in Shanghai!

Done!
